We installed a supposed good manufactures engineered wide plank hand scraped Maple floor in our new home. The problem is the floor shows white wear marks in the finish and they are everywhere. The flooring has only been down for a year so this is maddening. We have had hardwood in all our houses both traditional sand and finish and pre finished AO and none have had this problem. The floor even shows marks from sliding a clothes basket across the floor in the master closet. I have now read this is a problem with some AO finishes. We are on a slab so this was glued down. I have two questions can these AO finishes be refinished without sanding? Also if I have to replace it can you use the glued down engineered floor as plywood and install traditional nail down over the top?
