Greetings-

What is the best way to deal with a worn spot on an oak floor that was finished dark but has worn to the wood? This spot is in front of a door that leads downstairs to the basement. The worn spot is from a rubber sweeper attached to the bottom of the door that has worn away the finish over the years. I am just looking to touch up the area - not refinish the entire floor.

Thanks

Most of the time, the wearing factor polishes the wood and oxidizes it too so you can't just put stain on it .You will most likely have to tape off the affected boards , machine or hand sand them clean again and then start the staining and finishing process. it takes time and patience but is completely feasible.
