Hi,

I have a home with 1300 ft2 of tile floors throughout entire house. The tile floors are in good shape and level. I would like to change to wood floors. I understand the floor height will increase obviously with laminate floors over existing tile. My main concerns are:

1.) Toilets are already raised to accommodate existing tile with extended toilet ring. How do you install wood floors with a toilet already raised?

2.) Dishwasher is butted against existing tile. If I install wood floors it will block the dishwasher from being removed in future if needed. Could I place a small strip of wood as a filler so if dishwasher needs to be removed it will not affect wood floors?

3.) Other than those two things, I do not see any problems. The front door threshold still has about 1/4"-3/8" of play. How high will the new wood floors raise the overall floor height?

you need to ask a plumber about your plumbing concerns.

as for the dishwasher, you can do anything you want ..its your home.

the floor height will be the difference of whatever floor you buy..if going over the tile it will have to be engineered..so most likely figure 1/2-5/8" build up
