Okay guys.....as I ponder my "marble threshold vs floating wood floor" problem, I'd like a little feedback...okay really verification... that I am correct in that the flooring should be laid perpendicular to the floor joist and not parallel to them....right?

Not if your floor is a floating floor. That is usually only for a nailed down floor. All subfloors need to be stiff and stout enough with very little deflection.

If your sub-floor is flat and secure, you can lay a floating floor in any direction, regarless of which way the joist structure runs.

Thanks Dennis, Gary....glad I asked that question! The subfloor is stout and pretty darn flat although I do have a couple of joist that have decided to misbehave slightly. And guess what..my corners are square and the walls are pretty much straight  how could I be so lucky!
