Hi, I'm planning on installing a floating engineered wood floor throughout my second story condo in Fort Lauderdale, FL and I am a bit stressed as to all the options available regarding quality, installation, and most importantly, sound proofing in consideration of my down stairs neighbor. I really would appreciate some expert advice for decent and affordable product and underlay for superior sound proofing. I prefer the scraped dark wood look, but not sure which is most durable and scratch resistant. I also like the carbonized woven bamboo look, but I gave a sample piece the key test and it left a significant white line. Is this normal, or was it poor product? How thick should the product be, how thick should the top layer be? Where is a good source to purchase?
Also looking for quality installers in my area. I have not had very good luck hiring honest contractors in South Florida, is there a source where I can get hooked up with a experienced and honest installer?
Thanks in advance for your help!
