I recommend you contact your local building dept. to find out what the local building codes are for a wood burning stove near combustable materials. IF I recall correctly, there must be a 24" hearth of non combustable material (brick, tile, etc.) between the face of the firebox and the start of any combustable material. And a 12" surround around the opening. Check with the building dept. or fire dept. for your local codes.
