Got a customer who is interested in some type of hardwood at his beach house at the Cape in Massachusetts. Anyone done any hardwood on the Cape? Moisture content of sub floor is running around 11% . Kind of high but is It normal for beach areas of New England? Solid wood seems out of the question but what about engineered? Any thoughts or experiences would be appreciated.

If doing wood at the beach, I'd probably recommend an acrylic impregnated engineered product. Hartco Pattern Plus was the standard for years. Don't know if it's still available. Maintenance is a pain but it wears like iron.

Thanx for the reply . That is a glue down product which the customer does not want. He keeps asking what is the best and I keep telling him ceramic tile but for some reason the question keeps coming back to wood or laminate. I will probley walk away or tell him there is absolutely no warranty if he insists on floating engineered or laminate.
