How do you install tile with wood basket weave? What product do you use to caulk or grout the joint between tje two? Do you lay the tiles first then glue down the wood? Help, I'm in love with the look. Thanks

When doing mixed media with ceramic tile or stone tiles, I make plywood squares that are the same size as the tiles and install those plywood squares along with the wood first. Then I sand and finish all the wood. Then it's time to install the tile so I remove the plywood blanks and use the correct adhesive to set the tile. I usually allow for a small grout joint. Before installing the tiles though, I apply an additional coat of floor finish to the edges of the wood to help prevent them from absorbing moisture. I prefer grout as it's easier to use but the latex sanded caulking would hold up better I think.
