Done a few myself but for little ole ladys. I don't brag about it but have lots of jobs lately who need doors trimmed.

I'll do it if the door is not a 9ft $5,000.00 door or if the job will not fly without a door trimming.

Typically no flooring stores here let their installers trim door. A good door guy is truly unappreciated IMHO and really hard to find here.

Whats your average charge to trim a door if you do it.

We do a few here, mostly liittle old ladies, the stores try to have us do it a times usually only 15.00 bucks for an interior door and about 40 for an exterior door that we can handle usually in old homes, As you said we do not touch any expensive ones.

All in a day's work, charge to the customer is $30.00 each for standard interior doors.
In older downtown houses we run into a lot of heavy pocket doors, which used to be a beach to dis-assemble the trim to remove the door, remove the hardware, re-install, etc so we charged $100 bucks for them. One day I got to thinking about using a jamb saw and cutting in place, have since switched to the FEIN supercut. Takes about 5 minutes total now, and still charge the hunnert bucks.

Guess I better get a new blade for my skilsaw. Better that money in my pocket than someone else.

Ya Tucson, if you have the skills to do a job, all the little ancillary things that need to be done during the course of a hardwood installation can add up to some nice pocket change at the end of the project.
And unless it is a large renovation project, most home-owners are glad to pay for these extras since it means they dont have to outsource to get them done.

Used to trim doors all the time in Ca., except exterior. Last 8 years in L.V. haven't run into one door to trim  . Haven't figured it out. but all the doors out here are set or cut way high, IMO looks like heck, maybe it's so when interior doors are closed there's good airflow for the HVAC ?? Or it's easier to shoot marbles or flick chips under the doors ?

I try to get $25 per door. But these days I seem to do more and more for free. If i can I just use the undercut saw with a nice new blade especially if the job is on an upper floor.
