I am a flooring contractor for over 10 years.
Have used many types of oil and waterborne finishes.
Now i am having to resand a job I did back in June of 2013 because for some weird reason the finishing is ambering uneven. And by that I mean all places where I feather in my finish with Tbar have turned orangy.
I did pretty much everything by the book. Sanded the floors down to an 80 grit sand paper on my Hummel. Buffed everything to a 100 grit screen.
1 coat of bona dry fast sealer. Screened with 150 adhesive sand paper, and 2 coats of mega satin, which was applied looking for the amber tone it provides after a few months.
Called bona up. They immediately blamed the home owner saying she probably used a chemical to clean the floors that reacted to the finish.
I asked the home owner she says she only uses a little water.
Job is 3400 sf. Red oak solid. Supper simple. Even have an email. From the homeowner thanking me in june saying floors looked great.
Bona is not saying much.
Everything is coming out of my pocket now.
i am very disappointed on Bona... I never had a problem with their line of finishes before.
I am just wondering if anybody has had something similar happen.
Thanks yall
God bless

I think its the sealer. When bcherry was all the rage we had a floor where we used 1 coat of drifast sealer and finished up with pacific strong. There were some odd color changing going on a few months later and the only thing we could figure out was when we buffed the sealer we must have burn through it in spots and not in others. The places where the sealer were burned thru changed color much faster.

BOna is over rated by far..but they market the piss out of their products damn well..and many are hypnotized by it.

procide some more detail..natural?
stains?
I assume natural since you used sealer.

did you add any amberizer?
