Hi, folks. I've just finished laying about 1200 sq ft of unfinished ash. As I approach the sanding process, I'm dealing with some uncertainty of what machine to use. The floor is remarkably level so I don't think I need the aggression of the drum sander. But, am I wrong? Will the random orbit do the trick? Any advice would be appreciated.

Ash is harder than oak. You could get by with a scraper and hand sanding.
A drum sander will save time and make a smooth surface.
I think a square buff random orbit sander should be used between coats of finish or on end grain. It will smooth the surface, but it won't necessarily be flat.
Flat floors will keep the finish from wearing unevenly. Any bumps will tend to wear first.
