I'm getting ready to refinish my floors this weekend. I have all the supplies and the sander should be here any day. My only worry is that it will be fairly hot this weekend (about 80-85 degrees). I will cover all the windows to avoid sunlight except where the fans will be exhausting. But I'd like to have the central air conditioning on too so we don't over heat! There is also a chance of scattered thunder storms so I thought the A/C could help dehumidify the house.

I can angle the vents so the cold air doesn't blow directly no the floors, but even with that will the cold air mess up the drying process?

And lastly, my two cats will be locked in my family room which is really seperated from the room I'm refinishing. But I'm afraid the fumes will be sucked through the return ducts and blasted out all over the house? Is it safe to totally block the return ducts in this room? How do you pro's deal with this?

(The windows in this room do not really alow for a window A/C unit.)

Crank the A/C up to the time you pour the finish out, then turn it off and get the cats out of the house.

This gets the dew point down where you want it, and then there is no air flow to skim the finish.

Thanks, that sounds like it would work. Will the A/C cause possible problems with stain too?
