Hi,

I will be installing 850' of 3/4" X 2-1/4" solid prefinished Oak flooring over a 3/4" plywood (not OSB) subfloor.

I am looking at the following nailers:

M111FN - Bostitch - $470
M111FS - Bostitch - $470
FCN200 - Porter Cable - $420
The price for the fasterners are the same $60/5000

Which would be better for drawing the floor tight?

Which will give less problems with the splintering the tongues?

Thanks sawdust

Having never used a poter cable,I can't offer much.

I do know that the Bostich lasts forever and is very easy to rebuild.

You are not likeley to see any diffence in how it pulls the wood or busts toungues. The staple does that, not the tool.

It is reported that cleats do not cause as much tongue split as staples. In red oak, this is not much of an issue as the wood doesn't seem to split tongues easily. Harder, denser woods may have more tongue split with staples than cleats. The Bostitch M111 is the machine.

Thanks ChuckCoffer and Gary.

I'll go with the M111FS.
