I have never attempted to install any type of hardwood floor. I want to buy a pneumatic stapler but the only one I can find on-line that specifically mentions 5/16" is the Senco SLS20HF. I am concerned that it will only use 1" staples. Is that good enough. I am going over 3/4: tongue and groove plywood.

Pretty much the verdict around here is that the SPOTNAILS WS4840W2 is the best trigger actuated gun for thin wood application. I have the Bostitich LHF gun which is similar to the Senco in the length of staples it shoots. 1 inch is fine for 5/16. The spotnails shoots ones that are a little longer.

The Bostich BHF nailer will also work. The LHF is just for 3/8.

agraham, I own the Spotnails and it is a mighty fine gun, but I don't believe it will work on 5/16". Mine came with foot plates for 3/8, 1/2 and 9/16.

I swear, it is going to come a day where you need every flooring nailer made, just so you have the right gun for the floor they give you to play with. Oh wait, that day has come!!!

My Senco SLS isn't going to cut it, and my big bertha, is too much.

I have both Bostich guns, but I prefer to glue. It is faster and less prone to dings and noise after installation. I also get a little bit of stuff between the floor and the floor to diffuse vapor.
