I use a drum sander for most of the sanding process. A 16 inch buffer/floor polisher is what I finish sanding the floor with, after the 100 grit on the drum. I've used a Trio in Germany. The Trio will make almost anyone into a production sander. I don't know if it saves time, but takes minimal experience to produce a good job. I think it also has good dust containment that meets clean air standards of Germany without extra dust control besides what comes with it. You will need to have access to all the sandpaper that it requires.
