What looks best when hardwood is running length wise into tile flooring? Some say to make an end cap using the hardwood. Some say use a transition .some say let the wood end at the tile just cut it cleanly. What do you think looks best?

I prefer using a header board when the heights are equal and you have some nice clean cuts on the tile. I fill the expansion gap with a color matched grout caulk. Different heights would require using some sort of transitioning trim.

On my jobs I am usually doing both the tile and hardwood. Here are a few examples showing this.

Yes, Jerry, very nice web site. Way to go. I am glad you are in VA and I'm in CA. I wouldn't want to be in competition with you  BTW, any tips on building a site of the caliber of yours. Did you use a designer? What about hosting? How much?

I will not claim to know much of anything on hardwood floors, but what I have for a concrete sealer is supplied by Bostik Findley and is their MVP product or moisture vapor protectant I guess.

I was recommended as the first layer to have down under a hardwood installation on slab here in Houston.

This is the web link for the product.

Thanks everyone for the nice comments on my new website. I will never be as good as you Gary so you have no worries. I've seen your work :D . This is the best flooring message board out there because of all the knowledgeable installers from all parts of the country. I come here to learn more and I always do. Thank you Ken!

I pay 19.98 a month and used a free template from my hosting company that I played around with and modified it to suit my taste. I am a peabrain when it comes to websites so I know you can do it very easily. I will send you an email on my package information. From what can tell I have barely touched the surface on the mb's that are included with this.

I should contact Ken and figure out how I can link up with him. I install quite a bit of flooring that customers buy themselves online. I want my people to check out Hardwoodinstaller.com first before they buy something. I know that Ken has very good prices and whats more important to me, Ken will take care of them and give good guidance on what to buy.

I can tell you one thing for certain, the job I started 3 days ago came about from an online search and the very nice lady lives only 2 miles from my driveway :D . This is real nice job that I would not have had the opportunity to bid before because I don't advertise locally.

Jerry do a search for html code. All that is needed is a hyperlink from your webspace to kens front page.

Jerry,

I viewed your web site. Wow! great info. Anywho, I have posted a question regarding a trasition between tile in front of a fireplace and Bruce hardwood abutting it. On your web site, under transitions, photo 13 is my exact situation. What kind of transition wood do you have around the tile. Looks like it has a nice bull nose. I am going to be using Bruce Natural reflection and I am not aware of any pieces like that. Any suggestions. I guess I could use T moulding, but it wouldn't look as good.

Ken
