I would like to screen and recoat my own floor. I saw an installer do it on some flooring (same material) on some rooms laid last year, but I did not watch enough to know how long to let the machine be in one place on the floor, how quick to move it, etc., but it did not appear too difficult if you just have the know-how. The installer did it immediately after laying engineered, aluminum-oxide coated wood flooring, and placed a semi-gloss poly-urethane finish which DOES look better, and he swore was more durable, than what the new floor already had. I am laying the same product in some other rooms now, and can rent the machine at a local home improvement store for pretty little. Can anyone help me? Is there a good manual, etc., to buy?
Thanks a ton

There is no aftermarket finish on the market, that can come close to the wear durability of that applied as prefinished aluminum oxide. Nothing.

Use a square buffer... the orbital buffer will throw you around the room. oh yeah... my first bit of advice is to hire a pro.
