I had 630 sqft of engineered wood flooring installed in my house yesterday and I used a very reputable flooring company here in town. Two superintendents came out to the job site during the install to make sure everything was going great and it was. The crew was in the process of cleaning the floor and installing the transition pieces when one told me they had to go to another job. This was at 4:30pm. They loaded everything up and shaged ass. They left my transition pieces sitting in my spare bedroom and my floor only halfass clean. There was still glue on about 10% of the floor and it still needed one more wipe down to get the haze off the floor. Needless to say when the boss got home aka wife she wasn't pleased. We ended up going to lowes and spent $100 bucks on cleaning products and then spent the next 4hours cleaning the floor and moving the furniture back into the room so we could live in our house. I say this because most of the furniture was placed in the kitchen and dinning room and we couldn't get to the stove, sink, or fridge without moving the furniture lol. These are all things the flooring crew should of done before they left. I understand things come up and they might have to leave but, I'm a customer too. They are charging me $10 a sqft turn key so it's not like they are cheap.

So what would you guys do. Would you say anything to the superintendents if they come back out tomorrow? Or would you tell the crew something. I know after cleaning that floor tomorrow they won't be allowed in my house with shoes on and they won't be getting a penny from me until that floor is spotless just like it is right now.

That was pretty stupid of the supervisor. He should be fired immediately. Depending on the adhesive used and the amount left of the finish that could have ruined the entire floor. That might have been a good lesson for him to learn.

One day and all this work was done? How many guys? I would not be disappointed in that they didn't complete the job until the next day. But they should have at least left the site clean..ie glue removal. If it was me I'd prefer to leave the trim until the next day if it was getting past 4PM. I was never good at working long hours in this business and trim requires patience...not to mention time. 630 sf would run about 150 lineal feet of quarter round (guesstimate) and take me a few hours doing it right, especially if there are lot's of end caps.

Another thing...if they tool all the tools..sounds like they won't be back today?

Ken they had a 5 man crew and they managed to get all the trim in. They had two guys cleaning the floor when the boss said lets go. I was just kind of in shock because where he was standing when he said this was filthy ie dust foot prints all over the floor and a haze left on the entire floor. You are right about them taking the tools and the foreman said they would be back between 9am and 10am. This morning. Looks like they are already late lol.
