Hello,
I'm looking for a little advice. I plan to have hardwood installed through our wood subfloored home in Seattle, about 2000 sf, I am a little overwhelmed by all the choices. I'm open to almost any color/type of wood. I am more concered about durability and ease of DYI installation. Unfortunately, it's going to have to be prefinished. Any recommendations from the selection available here at harwoodinstaller.com?

Thanks.

Nobody can really answer that for you. You will have to answer some questions. Are you comfortable with eased edges? What sheen level do you prefer. Do you want the boards solid lengths or lots of shorts? What color do you want? That will lead to certain species/stains. Do you want a nailed floor or would you prefer a softer, floating floor? And then, the big one, how much do you have to spend?
You need to find a good salesman and look at products in hand. This is a $20k+ project. Call the Oak Floors of Greenbank in Seattle. Not sure of their prefinished selection, but they can send you to a good, reputable source.

Thanks Marco, I will give them a call.

EDIT: I actually just read Don Bollinger's book. He mentions that he's in Seattle but I never saw the name of his company in the book!

A nailed down prefinished solid wood in a 3/4" by 3&1/4" in an oak or exotic wood species. Oak will be less money. Nail down floors are easier floor the DIYer. You will need to make sure the subfloor is DRY and your basement as well. Check these out:
