Well I have about 300 sq. ft. installed of 3/4 oak flooring. I'm not positive on how to approach these two transitions to exterior doors.

The first one I already installed flooring next to (it is an exterior door that goes to a sunroom). I left a 1/2 inch or so gap between the flooring and the wooden door sill. The hardwood flooring is above the door sill but there is a threshold on the sill that raises this up and the door just barely (probably 3/8th of an inch) clears the flooring. But I have to put a trim piece in which will probably raise it up and I will have to cut the door and install a new threshold. How should I approach this and what kind of trim on the floor and threshold on the door should I use? Pics (2nd pic is from me in the sunroom looking in towards the room with hardwoods):

The second transition is the front exterior door. I have not yet installed hardwoods in this area-you can see how much I will have to take off the door and have to raise the sill threshold. Again, how should I approach this, what trim should I use(if any) and any reccomendations on how to raise the sill threshold or what new one to buy would be great. If it makes a difference-the flooring will run perpendicular to this exterior door (as pictured). Pics:

Please help me! So close to being done (after over a YEAR!....yes a YEAR-and its only 600 sq. ft.).

You don't much choice here. Either cut the door off some to get a thin trim in there, or try using a flexible colored filler that comes in a caulking tube.

cant tell from the picture, But looks like its just a door? Not one of those 3 piece ones (with a panel and glass pane on each side?)

maybe lift the door? Im sure there is room to raise it before it hits the header, But it is a big project...

Other wise Im with the small transition piece, or caulk

WHat about the front exterior door-Can I butt the flooring right to the new, higher threshold I am going to have to install? (should I put in a "header" board?)....or Should I end the flooring at the wood door sill? (In which case what trim would work that would connect the higher flooring to the lower wooden door sill?

Things are just kinda screwy cause this house is from 1930 and there is no big aluminum sill threshold like you see on all the new houses-its just a wooden sill with a small threshold just under the door.
