So anyone know why the market is being flooded with accia?
Recently had a Teak job, the wood the customers ordered came and it was accia stained teak, sent it back and got actual brazilian teak.
Accia on some hardness scales is 2200 (which is what all the prefinished manufactuers list it as. However other janka scales list it closer to 1110)
Seperate job customers ordered asian walnut. (We previously did 3500 feet of asian walnut in 2010 it was so hard we had to pre drill the starter and last rows because it was so hard the 15 gauge nails would bend). The casabella asian walnut that came (7.19 per foot) more than half of it was very soft, like american walnut soft.
Getting very tired of all of these white labeled chineese mis labeled species.
Got a sample from direct buy .com of accica it is very hard like brazilian cherry.
Just trying to get to the bottom of this species and getting tired of this particular one being passed off as different speices and ruining people schedulaes.
All of these purchases were made through local distributors thankfully so getting refunds werent a real problem, feel soory for all the people who go through this with online distributors.
BTW stay away from the maples too, apparently there is an asian maple being passed off as normal hard maple thats not as hard as actual maple. and silver maple (super soft like birch) being passed off as normal maple.
Grrrrrrrrr
