I am nailing down 1/2" solid cherry on 3/4" subfloor. My problem is what to use between the concrete and the subfloor.

One installer told me to find a rubberized vapor barrier that has a sticky peel off back. It comes in a roll. When you nail the plywood to the concrete, the rubberization seals the nail. He didn't know where to buy it or what it was called.

Another recommend rolling MVP and then putting a 6 mil sheet on it. Seems a bit messy and cumbersome to me.

HomeDepot told me to use the blue vapor barrier they use to float floor.
Another HD guy told me to use the LockTight concrete sealer.

OK, what do I use? Your expertise is needed.

I use 6 mil poly plastic, and float the subfloor, without fastening it to the concrete and no chance of moisture barrier penetration and compromising it.

If you must fasten down the plywood, I recommend Asphalt mastic with 30# asphalt impregnated felt, lapping the seams 4" then another coat of asphalt mastic and another layer of 30# asphalt impregnated felt, Spanning the seams of the layer underneath, and lapping those seams 4" also. Then 6 mil poly plastic, taping the seams with clear packing tape.

MVP is not a stand alone Moisture Blocker, according to Bostiks. It must be used with there adhesives as a system, to have a moisture blocker warranty.

W.F. Taylor has the peel and stick moisture membrane, but you must roll on their 2012 moisture blocker, first.
