I saw a post reference "screening" when discussing getting rid of indentations left by dog claws.
I am having the same issue: newly sanded & refinished floors that my 70 lb. lab has managed to scratch up in certain areas. I did research on this site for remedies and saw someone mention screening. What exactly does this entail. I assume it is something i would do after the dog is gone or once i decide to sell the house.

Screening refreshes the appearance of worn or dull floors. It won't get rid of deeper scratches or gouges. Finishers ordinarily use a used screen on the bottom of their machines to abrade the existing surface so any additional coat(s) of finish will bond better. It's important to keep track of what kind of cleaners have been used on the floor prior--negative reactions will result in poor bonding of the new finish.
