I am trying to install floating 1/2" bamboo in a 10x20' kitchen.

My kitchen floor had crown approx 1/4" over 6'. Which when we pulled up the subfloor, we found old meets new.. 2x6 tongue and groove 1950s construction up next to 3/4" plywood over underlayment.. 1993 construction. We cut a trench out of the subfloor 12"w x20'L approx 1/2" deep exposing the 2x6 t&g and removing the worst of the crown. We plan to fill it with self leveling underlayment. Preparing the floor for the floor muffler and bamboo.
The directions for the SLC say to use a primer first. I purchaced a 1 litre bottle (claims 100 ft coverage) of the primer matching the SLC. Now this trench is rough 1950's 2x6's. When I applied the primer it all but dissapeared.. I am planning to appy a second coat, it says to apply self leveling underlayment within 24 hrs after primer.. If this second coat is absorbed by the flooring is it okay to pour SLC? Can I use regular latex primer I purchaced for my ceiling? I want this to move and fill all the divits.. after all, isn't this what it was made for? Imperfections in the floor?
We probably should have pulled up the whole floor and started over.. Too late now..
So Can I use everyday primer under the LeverQuick self leveling underlayment to help smooth the spreading?
Thanks,
Marla

The primer is supposed to adsorb into the substrate, even concrete with no puddling. Since your on wood what do the instructions say about wood substrates?

The primer is used to stop curling and make it flow and stick better. Since your in a trench and not out on the open floor it's a moot point IMO. You could just use patch. Better yet might be using thinner plywood and building it up with roofing tiles and felt.

instructions don't mention substrate. Says to use on exterior grade plywood, ect.. Just not to use it on hardwoods, which this is not, 2x6 t&g fir.

Thanks for the idea of using thinner plywood and building it up with roofing tiles and felt. I will try that. When you say roofing tiles, aka wood shakes?

I really thought retirement for my husband and I had beaches and buffets in our future, not rebuilding our home.. but it has been a learning experience..

Thanks for your help..
