I'm trying to get an answer on a question I'm having difficulties with. I need to nail or staple 3/8" solid hardwood to a 3/4" ply base over concrete. What kind of pneumatic nailer and nails/staples do I use? I've been told 18 gauge, while someone else said I wouldn't be able to hire a nailer that would do 3/8". Confused!

Thanks

Okay, so 18 gauge is definitely the way to go then? I see the one you reccomnded takes 1" and 1-1/2" - which would be the correct one for 3/8" hardwood?

Thanks

Usually the manufacturer will reccommend a fastener, size and length. Did you check with them first? Also what is protecting your plywood from moisture coming out of the slab?

That would be the moisture barrier I didn't feel necessary to explain - I was after an answer on nailing. Between what Floorologist stated and the hire section at HD I got my answer, so thanks to Floorologist for his assistance.
