We're getting ready to put down 3/4" prefinished oak flooring and wonder whether to use 1.5 or 2" flooring cleats with our nailer. It is a Bostitch MFN200 and I've seen some reviews that say it is hard to get the nails in on one blow. Would the 1.5 nails go in easier? If the 2" nails are recommended we'll go that route because we want to do it right! This will be going on over 3/4" plywood subfloor. Thanks for any advice!!

2" for 3/4 " solid
Nailing pattern > 1 to 3 " at end joints and 8 to 10 ' in field for 3" in width
And 10 to 12 " on 2 1/4 " strip .

A manual cleat nailer. You should have just rented or bought the pneumatic one. I'll never go back to those manual nailers. BTW, Nick's correct. 2" fasteners for 3/4" flooring over 3/4" plywood UNLESS the plywood is over concrete.

I'm a 1½" fastener guy. From what I have been taught, buy a well known wood guy and wood science instructor, the 2" fasteners were for 33/32 flooring of old, over a dimensional lumber subfloor. 1½" are for ¾ over ¾, so the fasteners don't blow through the subfloor, and losing ½ of their holding power when they do blow through.
