Well, this is why I did the hardwoods in my bedroom first before the living room-because I never had done any before and figured I would run into issues that would be less noticable because it is a bedroom....and I was right. My measurements were off and I gained 1/4-1/2 of an inch over 12 feet just from the inconsistencies of the boards and the last row needs to be ripped to 3/4 of an inch (and up to 1 inch on one side of the wall). This is prefinished 3/4th 3 1/4 inch wide nail down install.

Is there any tricks to doing this? Should I glue the small piece to the full row before it and face nail, or can I nail it seperately? ANy ideas on how to get them all tight?! Thanks for any tips you can provide.

Nick

Best thing to do now is glue them in and use some 18 ga. brad nails instead of 16 ga. finish nails ... or ... use wedge shims to keep them tight until the glue sets. After the base shoe or qtr. round is installed they won't go anywhere.

Glue the T&G, and glue it down to the substrate, with little blobs of glue, about as far apart as you would top nail it.
