Found this floor underneath the carpet in the 100 year old house I just bought. Was thinking of refinishing it. Wondering what kind it is. Thanks

This looks like Douglas Fir to me (vertical grain). If done right, it can look very pretty w/ golds and reds throughout. It's a softer wood, and a bit tricky for a novice to refinish, so make sure you have someone w/ experience with this wood.

BTW, we find this type of wood in a lot of older homes in our area, too.
