Hello, I'm new to the forum.
Our house was built sometimes in the 1860s but I'm fairly sure this floor is much newer than that, however I don't know when it went down or when it was last refinished.
I'm hoping someone can tell me what type of floor it is (I believe it's yellow pine, but not sure) and if anyone has an idea of what finish is likely on it.
Whatever the finish is it's a very dull finish with little sheen to it and it seems very thin. I say thin only because you can really see and feel the texture of the wood. Also, when I put a new steam pipe in I noticed the edges around the pipe were the same exact color as the top of the floor. Not sure if this is helpful or not but it kind of surprised me.
I'm asking because I have a small spot that is worn to bare wood and I'd like to repair it if possible and don't want to risk damage to the good areas.
Ignore the worn oak stairs, I'm currently in the process of refinishing them with Emulsion pro + Hydroline plus.
