I need help with information. We bought a new house 8 years ago and the contractor put in laminate flooring. My husband is in a power wheel chair as he is disabled. His chair has caused floor discloration. We want to refloor but don't know what to get that will hold up under the power wheelchair? He wants hardwood or engineered hardwood but is concerned they will damage quickly. Please help with some advice on what to buy. Thanks.

I would suggest a solid wood floor with a tough finish. Avoid softer wood such as cherry and pine.

Nobody is going to warranty a finish with a wheel chair. It's the areas where he is turning I bet that are discolored the most. My dad was in one during the last years of his life. Perhaps an impregnated hardwood. They use impregnated hardwood in commercial applications all the time. They last longer than anything else.
