Hello,
I am installing 3/4" Unfinished 2 1/4 Planks. My starter wall has a exterior Door with a Side Window on it. If I leave a 1/2" Gap on the wall there is a 1/2" gap at the door way. What is the best way to take care of this gap??

Any help would be greatly Appreciated!!

Thanks in advance

use a threshold molding, or cut your board so that it would go in the doorway more than the walls.

are you undercutting your door jambs?

I generally will use a 3/8" or 5/16" x 1 1/2" mini reducer for that. Rip it down to the desired width you want on a table saw and butt the fat part next to the door sill. I continue the strip underneath the door casings...outside-to- outside.

THank you again for your replys and great help!!!

I am a Tile guy attempting to install my own hardwoods. But the Tricks to the Trade are good to know when you come up to those issues.

Should I still leave a 1/2" Gap at the door and Side window for Expansion? And then use the Mini Reducer all along the whole thing?

thanks again for your help

Leave a gap and use that trim to cover over it , the whole width is the way I finish an exterior door with sidelights, out to out underneath the door casing. 18ga brad nails work well to fasten the trim down.

What Jerry said. I call it flat mould. I make them out of whatever product I am installing.
