Hello! My floors are in excellent shape thanks to recently having the old ones 'redone' recently, which look great with the NEW ones that we have had put in that were previously carpeted. I have a few spots, created by children I am certain, that aren't really SCUFF marks (i think of scuff marks as black marks that one gets from the bottom of shoes), but 'clear' marks that are sort of on the surface of the floor that can only be seen in a certain light. How do I get these off? I've cleaned the floors as I usually do, but these few marks are still visible and I'm not sure what to put on them to get them off (and I'm not even sure what to CALL them, so I don't know what to look up online!). Any ideas???

the floor is marred...meaning not quite a scratch..but the finish is marked...is it near chairs or tables constantly in use?

if it is sneaker/rubber marks.....you can actually use an eraser believe it or not..
but best to invest in "scuff remover"

made by Last and last...polycare cleaner....

if the finish is marred..you cant really do anything..without creating a worse effect yourself...call a pro

I believe it is from a sneaker/shoe, as it is in the foyer and not near any furniture. I am going to try the eraser and see if it works. Will also look for the scuff remover - thanks for defining what I couldn't put into words (SCUFF - I think that's probably what it is :))

Try a Magic Eraser. But first in a closet to test. They do not work on wax or hard wax finishes though.

Thanks! I will try the Magic Eraser (I think I have one in my cabinet already!). The regular eraser didn't work, unfortunately. I'm persistent, though :) Will keep trying until I figure out what works. I appreciate the tip!

May be the same problems that I have. I concluded it was from the rubber mallets and the contractors work boots. Go buy a pack of high polymer eraser (a 4 pack was $3 at Target). You will have to rub pretty hard but it will get the spots out. Good luck!

I read an article that a tennis ball cut and attached to a broom handle is used to remove marks from basketball court. Never tried it myself so don't know how well this works.
