I am looking at buying engineered flooring without a warranty. It is from a name brand supplier, but is a discontinued color sold at a deep discount without a warrany. The material had warranty, but since it is being sold at such a deep discount it is sold as is. It is still packaged in factory boxes. Should I be concerned? Are there any stats on how often claims are made on proper instal?

Im inclined to say that there shouldnt be a problem. Check the labling on the boxes before purchasing, to make sure they dont say "tavern" or "cabin" or some other descriptive term that is not evident on other runs from the same manufacturer.
Also, ask to open a box so that you may visually inspect the material before purchasing. Check that the milling is good and the pieces fit together, the finish isnt peeling or "skipped" in areas; etc.
If the salesguy says no to your request, make sure you can return it for full refund if you are unsatisfied with the quality.
