We have a lovely walnut floor. (Unfinished) Some of the pieces have some sapwood along the edges. Is there a finish you would recommend that would help "dull" the contrast between the dark heartwood, and the lighter sapwood?

We have a bathroom floor that was walnut that had sap streaks and was graded out to make a select floor for our client. I stained it Spice Brown Duraseal, then used moisture-cure poly on it, two coats. It is hard to tell where the sap streaks are the color matches so well.
The light stained floor in our living room has a few sap streaks, but shows lighter, I stained it one part Spice and three parts Neutral oil.Over the 35 years that it has been down the floor has become shinier with stocking foot traffic and the wood is irridescent, and seems to change color depending on the light playing on the figure.
