I'm working on removing some vinyl tile from my kitchen floor by using steam and scraping up the tiles. However, it's leaving a stick residue on the wood subfloor. Do I need to get this cleaned off or can I put my Aquabar vapor on top of the adhesive. I'll be installing taun hardwood flooring.

Couldn't find the edit button. Some additional notes. The new hardwood floor will be nailed down. I meant to say the sticky residue is on a 1/4" plywood underlayment on 3/4" OSB subfloor and dimensional floor joists. So instead of trying to clean off the residue left from the vinyl tile I was hoping to just roll on and staple the Aquabar vapor barrier. It doesn't seem like there should be any issue but wanted to get the professionals. :)

Probably not an issue but can't sat for sure. The biggest problem is getting it to lay flat. No need to staple it. Or you could just rip up the 1/4 in and replace it.
