I was curious if anyone used Screws to attach Bamboo Flooring to subfloor?
When i was building my Sauna using Tongue and Groove Red Cedar, i would drill a hole where the staple or Nail would normally go(at a 45 degree angle so that it is not going through the tongue). This would be like a pilot hole to prevent the screw from splitting the Cedar. Then i would make a larger counter-sink hole at the top so that i could drive the screw in until it is flush with the edge where the tongue meets the rest of the board. Then i could put the next board in and do the same. This way the screws are completely hidden and also screws typically hold better than Nails or Staples.
I know that this method is certainly not very cost-effective or efficient but it seems like the ideal method for someone who has no experience with Power Nailers/Staplers. Also the other advantage is if you make a mistake, it is easy to remove the screws and then the wood without causing any damage.
With my Cedar Sauna, i never split a pieace of wood and i have no problem with gaps between the boards. This is quite good considering the constant changes in humidity in the Sauna.
