Does using pre-finished wood on a wall sound crazy? Has anyone done it? Any suggestions or photos to share?

It can be done. The same rules apply as far as expansion space. You can shoot right through the sheet rock, blind nailing with a 2½" fastener.

I have done it before. Did it for a wainscot and again above a fireplace. Not hard to do.
