I am refinishing my laminate hardwood floor by sanding off factory finish and coming back with clear polyurethane. We first bought a fairly small amount off semi-gloss but then decided to go with gloss.
What would be the effect if I used up the semi-gloss on first coat then used the gloss on subsequent coats? Is it the top coat that gives the gloss finish or would doing this cause a less glossy finish? I plan to lay 4 coats.

Thanks for any input,
Todd

That should work fine. If you get to bare wood the first coat will pretty much soak in anyway.

Thanks...
I'm almost halfway done sanding the hall with belt sander. I had to return Dark&Blacker and get a PorterCable. Going much faster now.
