I live in upstate NY and have been fighting with the weather the past two months to get a week (let alone two weeks!) where humidity and tempature is in that "middle range" that I need to properly acclimate the oak 3/4 flooring (45% humidity). Humidity in my house hasn't dropped below 50% (right now it is in the mid 50s and has been for most of the time). Changing of the tempeture really does not have any real effect on the humdiity.

I am going to hold off installing the floors on the first floor until the conditions are more appropriate but I do have the master bedroom to install upstairs- it is just 12x20. Can I put a dehumdifer in that room with the floors so that I can "manually" change the conditions there and acclimate that room individually and then install them?

Anyone living in upstate NY knows it is nearly impossible to get two weeks worth of constant weather conditions. In winter, it gets cold and humdiity drops to 30-35% because of the heating (and I even have a whole house humdifer!) and in the summer it is 55-65% humidity....and rarely does the temp. get high enough to turn the a/c on (which usually puts the humidity where I need it-at 45%) but the conditions don't stay constant for two weeks!

Is one week enough for acclimation? I've had these floors sitting in my house for a year and finally have the subfloor issues all straightened out-I want to install! Any tips would be appreciated!

Nick

The RH rarely, if ever, stays constant. That's ok as long as most of the time, your RH is hitting your desired mark. Acclimating for a year sitting in your home? Yeah, they're ready to install.
