I recently purchased Mohawk Artiquity engineered hardwood (9/16" thick,
7.5" wide, with lengths up to 6 ft.). It is a Uniclic system that is not tongue and groove wood. It can be either floated or glued. I'm going to be installing 1500 sq ft over 4 bedrooms, a family room and a hallway all in a rancher cottage.
I live in SC, a very humid area, near the water. There is a fair amount of humidity and I have a crawlspace under the home. I encapsulated the crawlspace and installed a dehumidifier and the wood subfloor is about 12%
humidity.
1.Float or glued: I'm thinking of gluing the floor and not floating it so it has a more solid feel. In addition, the wood subfloor has some imperfections. Would you recommend I glue or float the floor?
2. I'd prefer not to use T-molds and transitions between rooms and we are installing the same hardwood throughout most of the house (some 1,500 sq ft). I know you can use splines to reverse the direction of a tongue and groove floor, but what can you do to reverse the direction of Mohawk Uniclic floor? Does the answer to this question depend on whether I glue or float the floor?
3. If I glue the floor, what glue product would you recommend that also has a moisture barrier in it?
4. If I float the floor, what moisture barrier product/pad would you recommend?
