I just purchased snap lock bamboo flooring. I noticed that there is an underlayment made for bamboo flooring. Do you recommend using what is specifically recommended for bamboo (which is more expensive), or can I use a generic underlayment? It will be installed over linoleum that is in good shape, no tears and still securely glued to sub flooring.
Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

The most important thing about laying any clic-loc flooring is to get the sub-floor flat. Once the sub-floor is flat to within the manufacturers specifications, you can think about what underlayment to use. Some underlayments will have a crushable component that will allow the material to get flat as the material gets pressed by the flooring where the sub-floor has a spot that is slightly higher than the surrounding area. This helps to make en even flatter surface for the flooring to rest after it is laid. There are more than one brand of underlayment that will work. The important thing is will the flooring be covered by the warrantee if you use a different product.
