I am about to install 1/2" engineered maple hardwood, Model hardwood is the brand, and I have a question about the type of stapler to use. Should I use a 15 gauge stapler air operated that you hit with a hammer, bostich makes one for 1/2 wood, or should I use a 18 gauge stapler that looks more like a brad nailer? I think the 15 gauge staples would be a little thick for the engineered wood. The tongue isnt very thick and I think the 15 gauge staples might split it during install. Or should I use cleat type nails? The problem is I cant find a 18 gauge stapler in town and would have to order and might take 2 weeks to get. Wanted to install later this week. Any suggestions?
