I am laying 3/4 X 3 1/4 prefinished flooring down a L shaped hallway. I want to turn the corner by a having 45 degree seam and run the boards 90 degrees to the first section of hallway.
How do I cut the boards so that I end up with a straight tight seam?
I have considered fitting all the planks together at the corner W/O nailing, then scribeing a fine diagonal line, then removing the planks and cutting them on my Miter saw. However, if the angle of the scribed line is not exactly 45 degrees, the planks running in the other direction will not mate properly.
After cutting the 45 degree angles should I face nail them or do you route a groove in each end of the mating planks and use a spline?

Thanks, I appreciate all help.

Cutting prefinished floors in the field of the floor is trickey, it really likes to chip when you cut it so just go slow and buy a good blade for you miter saw. ONe other way to tackle the transition is a log cabin corner, sometimes called a butt and pass corner, its a little easier imo than trying to get that miter "perfect"on every row.

I hadn't thought of making this type of corner, but it is a good possibility. I layed it out and see how it works.
Do I need to rip the tongues off where they meet tongue to tongue and then route a groove and use a spline?
