Hi,

I want a unique flooring look for my ultra-modern home office. I'd like a true, jet-black stained wood (no brown or red tones at all). I'd like it in a narrow-ish plank (2 1/4), square end, little to no bevel. I want it highly uniform and without much grain. I'd like the finish to be low-gloss or matte.

In browsing the local stores, the only thing I've found that is even close is a Mirage with a stain called "Sambuca" but it's pretty pricey. This would be going on a wood sub-floor and I have no existing preference for solid, engineered or even laminate (if it would get me the look I want). I know very little about wood floors but have been surprised that I've found almost nothing like what I'm describing despite the fact that I see it in photos in modern design magazines from time to time.

Any help or pointers on manufacturers to browse is greatly appreciated!

Regards,

Mark

Thanks for the reply. I looked on the Mirage site but couldn't find a Moca stain on birch.

Your right, it is Java, not moca.

Answering my own question in case anyone else ever finds this topic via search.

Option for low grain, total black wood: Bruce - Turlington American Exotic Birch - Peppercorn color (E3524)
