I am replacing my floor after a major hurricane and have been trying to do as much research as possible before I make the investment so I'd love to ask a few questions and get a bit of advice.

I have about 800 sqft on a concrete slab in a humid climate so I think ive decided that engineered wood may be the best bet.

I like the idea of a click lock floating floor because it is something that I can install myself but the problem is that I'm having a hard time finding a brand that is engineered and click lockable that looks good...

Ive seen shaw in person that looked decent but i didn't like the fact that it was made out of what looked like MDF and apparentely from what I read here, shaw isn't all that good.

Bottom line, I'd love to hear some suggestions on brands to check out in person.

Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Both Award http://www.awardfloors.com/default.aspx
and Kahrs http://www.kahrs.com/us/Consumer/Pages/start.aspx
have floating floors with a "click" system. These are both good quality, floating floors.

I have a kahrs 3-strip woodloc floating floor in my kitchen, dinette, hallway, laundry, and powder room; it was installed 5 years ago and still looks like new.

If it fits the budget, Kahr's is the way to go. Alternatively, the Mirage product is flawless and more reasonably priced.

Dennis is right on in that Kahrs is expensive (one of the reasons I'm looking for an alternative rather than doing my entire house with it)... lowest price I found here in my area was $5.99/sqft CDN for the 3-strip.
