I am getting ready to refinish our oak floors (I assume they're oak, house built in early 50's, and it looks oak). When I bought the home, carpent was laid down, and the baseboards where a dark Walnut finish, maybe just a little lighter. My wife and I like the dark Walnut color to stain the floors, my question is can we have baseboards and trim the same color as the floor? I think they should be white, she thinks they can be same color. I am just curious what others have looked and or what others have done.

It depends on your taste and decor. Out here the look is wide, white baseboard. What type of trim do you have for door casings, and windows?
It's a matter of personal taste... Years ago, out here, the rage was stained hardwood baseboards,(even with white door and window trim), now it's a dated look. I've thought that stained base can give the room a "fish bowl" look. But it could look great, depending on the specific home, and decor.
