Hello. I live in an urban apartment with 20-year-old parquet flooring (light brown color). About 20 tiles around my desk chair have become damaged and need to be replaced. My building will replace them, but only with new tiles (honey color) that do not match the old tiles. I am told the original color is no longer available. Instead, I am proposing that they take the existing light-brown tiles from the closet floor (they are "like new"), transplant them to the damaged area, and replace those closet tiles with the new honey-colored tiles. The super insists this is not possible, as the tiles will break when removed, and that replacing the damaged brown tiles with the honey-colored ones (or buying a rug) is the best option. I imagine an initial tile or two could be broken in the removal, but the rest could be preserved if removed carefully. Is there any gentle removal process that would work in this scenario? Each tile is comprised of 7 strips each, and look very much like the ones shown here on Home Depot's website:
