About 6 months ago we had "Laminique" floors installed in our condo at the beach. Took salespersons advice, didn't do cork, bamboo or engineered..."Laminque can take the moisture".
Two issues:
1) I believe the transitions (between tile and floor) were installed incorrectly/poorly. The leg of the T-molding is about 3/32 higher than the floor is thick. Therefore there is gap of about 3/32 between the bottom of the lip on the molding on the floors surface (both sides, floor and tile). The leg of the T appears to be made of compressed paper. The top of the T has broken completely off on one and shows signs of breaking on the other 5 transitions. In case I get any flack from the installer/store is there any documentation I can get to that states the lip must sit firmly on the floor surface.
2) The noise the salesperson made about moisture concerns, should There be the same concerns for the substrate on the transitions and quarter round (it appears to be the same compressed paper, covered with vinyl).

And a final question; What is the best way to fix the transitions? The originals appear to be glued with Liquid Nails.
Thanks in advance

Store sent out a different installer to fix the problem. This gentleman took one look, "The other guy put in way too much glue".

He chiseled out the original transitions, cleaned up any glue on the surfaces, installed new T mold with a hot glue gun. He put a thin bead on both surfaces (ceramic tile and vinyl).

Acceptable? Or should I prepare for the next round?

I've used hot glue in a pinch, but should be the more flexable kind. It should hold. But, best way is to use the track that is supplied with the universal types for a real solid hold. That said, I don't like using some of them as each manufacturer has different styles of tracks. Some really suck, so I will glue most of them and you will find most installers don't want to take the time to hammer drill the holes if concrete substrate. And lining up 45's or angles with the tracks is a real PITA!

I prefer the tracks..but some manufacturers don't carry them for the transitions they sell  , like the Shaw I just finished. I then use 100% silicone for the flexibility, and not compromise the expansion space.

Ja28226, The method your installer used should work also, ( not gluing to your "Laminique", but to the adjoining surfaces ).

Shaw does sell the tracks but you have to order them separately. I prefer silicone or PL400, Its hard to get the track in the exact spot especilly as mentioned if your 45ing it or even if it has to be notched to go around something.

Thanks for the info on the Shaw track...gotta bone to pick with the dealer

To line up 45's etc with track....I just cut 3" pieces of transition,( at whatever angle needed), line them up in the top of the track slots, and secure the track. I just like track with laminate because the transitions suck down tight, with no drying time, and there's no way to compromise expansion.
