I've got another one of those transition questions. I am going to lay 3/4" solid hardwood Braz Cherry floor. I am leaving carpet in my three bedrooms so I will have to transition this floor to the carpet. The height of the carpet looks like it should be very close to the height of the hardwood floor.

What is the best way to transition between these two floors? Should I use a baby threshold?

At first I thought a T molding but aren't those only to transition to another hard flooring surface and not carpet?

I have also seen where someone mentioned not using a molding but just tackstrip and tuck the carpet. What exactly is this and what do you tuck the carpet into? Also, would I need a square edge molding with no tongue or groove to finish off the edge of the hardwood where it meets the carpet?

Thanks for the info.

How do I finish off the edge of the hardwood to make it look nice?

Yes they work well. They make the carpet slightly higher then the wood. This allows you to nail tackstrip for the carpet and stretch to the transition, so the wood is not higher then the carpet, beating it with traffic.
