I am laying down 7/16th inch thick engineered hardwood (mohawk cherry) over old hardwood. I am using a highpro stapler AS 4090 using 1 1/2 inch staples. I am runnign in the opposite direction of the original hardwood. I used an edger to make sure the floor was completely level. I am using a 15 floor underlayment.

Things are looking great. Here is my question:

I haven't figured out what to do to transition to the entry door. There is a metal threshold that I guess I need to slip the wood underneath? But will I have to shave off the bottom of the door? Basically I have no idea what to do! Any help would be appreciated.

I'd buy a new threshold that is 90 degree straingt up instead of that beveled one first. Some of these new square-ish thresholds come in parts you can cut to let the wood go under neath and look cleaner. But you might have to cut the door which is not that hard to do.

Looking at the photo, if you can fit the new floor under the threshold without raising it, then there would be no need to shorten the door, since it opens away from the floor rather than over it.
